Pretty reliable place to get a good lunch or dinner. Never left disappointed. Food is on the better end of things for the area and the cheese cake is second to none, best I have found at the beach so far. I believe it is from carnegie deli in nyc.

I really can't see why this has anything less than 4 stars. Everything was clean and very modern. The waitress was polite and the food was very good. Highly recommend the "dreaming chicken sandwich" and "she crab soup."

Clean, friendly restaurant with American classic menu. Best things we ordered were the croissants and the She Crab Soup. The entrees were just okay.

The food was decent except the oysters which were not cooked well. They were not done nor crispy. The baked potato soup was good though. The service was the worst of the experience. The wait staff was slow and inattentive as were the hostesses.

First off... the server was amazing.... but he couldn't make up for the time it took the kitchen to get the food out, and the lack of wow factor in the food. I will say, the BBQ nachos were great!!!! but our main dishes were bland.

I ate here last night. Early bird specials are good value. The California Dreaming salad is the best value on the Grand Strand. Make sure you get it with the house dressing. Hot beacon and honey mustered. Enjoy.

This place was decent. Clean with really nice servers. I ordered the prime rib and it came with a salad and a croissant with honey butter. The croissant was great and the honey butter made it amazing. The salad with ranch was ok. The ranch tasted like nothing. Prime rib was good but I got a piece that was mostly fat and the baked potato was really dry. Good place to go if you like mediocre food. I probably will not come here again.

Always our first stop when vacationing in MB. A must have is their house salad with their honey mustard bacon dressing! Chicken fingers are great...I just love everything there! They have early dinner menu...quite reasonable. Their sister restaurant is Carolina Roadhouse and serves the same menu and are equally wonderful!

Love this place. I go here for dinner when I stay at the Courtyard that shares the same parking lot. No reason to get out and drive looking for a place to eat, because they have everything you could ask for on their menu. Last time here I went simple and ordered the appetizer nachos and a beer. Just sounded like a good and tasty dinner. Their nacho portions are huge, topped with a really good chili, sour cream, and jalapeños. I can't think of a better appetizer nacho anywhere. Ted's Montana Grill has their bison chili nachos that are really good, but the portion size is smaller, and their price is a few cents higher. Thus the winner in appetizer nachos is clearly California Dreaming. I will be back for more, as writing this review has put me in the mood for dinner at my local Cal Dreaming.

Good place to eat, affordable with fast seating, decent service, and good food that comes out fast, recommend: yes

We were happy to return to California Dreaming after not having been for a number of years. We went at lunch time. I had the pulled pork (no bun requested due to Celiac) and my husband had a chicken sandwich, the special for the day. Both were very good. Service was great. One thing I didn't like was that while it was early and the restaurant was pretty empty, we were sat right beside another table. That was a little awkward. When you aren't crowded, I would prefer a little space so that you don't feel like you are on top of each other!

Disappointing. I wanted to try the Seafood Nachos, but do not like red onions. When I asked to have it without them, I was told they could not take them off. All the Nacho dishes come already prepared and there is no way to get them out. Well, its nice to know that they are not made fresh. My wife had a salad with fried oysters. She thought they were good. My daughter had the Shrimp San Francisco. She enjoyed it. The noise level was CRAZY loud. The music being piped through the speakers made it worse and really wasn't dinner music.

Really wasn't nuts about this place. Hearing that California Dreaming and Carolina Roadhouse (my FAVORITE restaurant in Myrtle Beach) had the same owners, I had really high hopes for this place. The menus are nearly identical but the service at this restaurant is nowhere near the service at the Carolina Roadhouse. Our order was messed up numerous times among our party of 8..the food was excellent, just like Carolina Roadhouse, but the service at this place needs work...maybe take some pointers from the service at Carolina Roadhouse?

This review is only for bar service. Came here with a friend while I was visiting from out of town. I got a caramel macchiato espresso martini, super rich and really good especially if you like it more sweet then coffee tasting. For dinner I got the San Francisco pasta with alfredo sauce and the house salad with ranch. I hear the house dressing is amazing but I love ranch and I was very glad I did so. It was creamy and sweet like I like. They also serve it with a croissant with honey butter and you need to order a barrel of these things, I almost canceled everything and was going to request a bowl of just the bread. The pasta was so-so but the shrimp was fresh. The service at the bar was very attentive and the to-go person Chloe was so sweet and personable she kept my water filled and made sure all my needs/wants were handled.

I will start with the positive. The waitress, salad, and mouthwash would get 5 stars. The mouthwash proved most beneficial for cleansing the burnt, charred taste from the NY Strip from the palate.

If there ever a California Dreaming close to my travels I always try to visit one. I have been a customer for 20 years and the food and service is consistent at every location.

This is the worst mean I ever had in MB. Chicken was over cooked and very oily. Bar tender was not experienced to handle the large crowd at the bar.

The croissants with honey butter are delicious. Pretty good pasta. We got our order to go so we could eat on our balcony, the order was ready when we got there. Portions are HUGE.

I eat here often during business trips. Today I had grilled chicken salad with dressing on the side. Excellent salad with croissant. The grilled chicken is marinated and is very good. I usually get BBQ chicken with green beans. It is a very tasty BBQ sauce. Good service.

Nice restaurant. Nothing fancy, casual, good service -- soups were amazing, roasted vegetable salad, chicken Parmesan and prime rib. We were all very satisfied!

Our family of 7 had a really good meal at California Dreaming. We were able to call ahead for seating and had no wait for a table when we got there. Unfortunately, after that, the service slowed WAY down and we didn't receive our meals for nearly an hour! We had a two year old with us, so we asked if we could get some rolls, and were told there are no complementary rolls, they can be purchased from the menu. That was a bit weird, but our waiter brought us a roll anyway, free of charge. We requested that the child's meal be brought as soon as possible, since it was getting late, and thankfully he ate while we kept waiting for our meals. When we did receive our meals, they were delicious. My chicken sandwich was really good. I loved the honey mustard sauce. Someone else ordered a steak and it was perfectly cooked. The restaurant was busy but not overwhelmed (there was no line out the door). I'm sure they are used to large crowds, being in such a touristy location. They should work on how quickly they get meals out or at least offer rolls to keep people satisfied while they wait.

I went here with 8 other girls for a bachelorette party dinner before going out. The service was terrible and the frustrated cooks yelling at each other in the kitchen was audible from our table. Our drinks took 30 minutes (we were told the bartender was on a break), our food came out an hour later and was cold, a "medium" steak came out extremely rare, and the people bringing the food out didn't know the difference in chili and nachos or the different types of soups. It was one thing after another, and by the time all was said and done 3 hours, a brief talk to the manager, and a 20% discount later, nobody wanted to go out to celebrate the bachelorette party. Total disappointment. Positive note: Our main server was sweet though and did what she could to make it better.

I went with a large group to California Dreaming while on vacation in Myrtle Beach and I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant! The restaurant is very large, so there is plenty of seating for small and larger groups alike (my party was 14 people!) The food was tasty with a few exceptions. Most everyone seemed to enjoy their food, though my soup was more cold than hot and the french fries are very salty. The menu is typical american fare, and ranges from salads and sandwiches in the $10 range to ribs, steaks and prime rib around $20. There is plenty of variety in the menu, so it should please the entire family. The honey butter croissants are incredible, and the baked potato soup was delicious! The one lingering questions I'm left with is why this place is called California Dreaming. The food doesn't suggest a California influence, so the name must come from the wine list, or even the decor. If the name evokes thoughts of beach food, or even health food, this restaurant doesn't deliver. However, if you put the name aside and remember that you're in Myrtle Beach then you'll have an enjoyable meal.

We came here for dinner while we were on vacation. The building is beautiful, very clean and nicely decorated. We were seated as soon as we came in but waited a bit for a waitress. The waitress didn't seem to know much. I had the she crab soup ( which was the best soup I have ever had ) a salad, steak and baked potato. My boyfriend had the quesadilla appetizer and the chicken tenders platter. The chicken in both of his plates was not fresh at all. He ate one bite out of the appetizer, and a few fries off the platter. The waitress never asked what was wrong or if everything tasted okay. Rather odd, being restaurant owners - we always walk around and check to see what's being eaten and what's not. We would sit out empty glasses of soda/water on the end of the table and she would ask if we wanted more each time? Isn't that a courtesy when waiting on customers to keep their drink filled without asking?? Weird. Overall I was rather disappointed in our visit - even with the outstanding soup, I doubt we will be back next year.

Seemingly slow service, overpriced for food that has the same qualities as a meal from Denny's...

Move over Cheesecake Factory, California Dreaming is here! The best Nacho's and large plate entrees in the area. Pricing was super reasonable. Chardonnay for $4, and BBQ Nachos were enough for my whole meal. Service was top notch, they are dressed in suit and tie but act like they are your long lost friends. Very friendly and more than willing to guide you through the menu to help you find something you will love. Atmosphere- Beautiful 30ft ceilings await you as you walk through the doors. A shiny pine wood decorates the restaurant, giving it a feeling of new luxury! Don't let the image fool you, they welcome everyone even if you are in flip-flops :)

I can't believe Califrnia Dreaming is rated so low! I was in town for a week in Myrtle Beach and I must say, this is one of the best restaurants in town. It was so delicious! The venue is very chic and the service is awesome. The were extremely friendly and kind. The food was great. For appetizers, we had the baskets of croissants. You cannot, I repeat cannot leave without trying these. The croissants are fresh out of the oven and just melt in your mouth! The honey butter adds the perfect touch. For entrees, I had the filet mignon sandwich. It was delicious! The meat was perfectly cooked and the pepper jack cheese complimented The filet mignon well. At the end, I had a great experience and would definitely recommend it if your nearby.

Came here on our neighbors recommendation, ordered the croissants that are lightly glazed with butter and honey, very good. I ordered a bowl of chili and chicken wings both were very good. Wife had the chicken parmesan and she said was good. Service was good, and the atmosphere was nice.

I've been coming in here for a few years and always enjoy it. We love the traditional nachos, house salad, and the croissants. They have a decent selection of seafood, chicken, ribs, etc. Quality food like its sister restaurants. Reasonably priced food and bar items.

I guess this is a chain but I've never seen it before in the North East. We had a nice dinner with family. Atmosphere was modern and overall very nice. Food was overall very good. Prime Rib and mashed potatoes. We were there before 6:00 and had the sunset special which had some great entry choices, and included a large salad and a drink. The price was almost half of the regular menu price. Portions were a bit less I think but this was fine with me. Upbeat music playing which my young daughter enjoyed.

I've ate here twice in the past couple of years and both times had very different experiences. The first time, in 2009, was relatively pleasant with reasonably quick service. We sat in the bar area with four people and just ordered a handful of sandwiches and drinks --of course, everything always seems good when you've had a couple of drinks. The second time --a year later, however, was quite different. My wife and I headed to the restaurant for dinner at around 4:30pm (early bird special, right:?). Once we got there we were seated pretty quickly, and a waiter was over in a couple of minutes --which is when the fun began. We ordered pretty simplistic food and nothing too crazy. I ordered a cheeseburger with grilled onions, and asked if I could substitute the French fries for a side salad. My wife ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The side salad was served quite promptly, and after a short period the order came out. The waiter quickly dropped off the order and took-off like a rocket before we could even say "Thanks!". I received the cheeseburger, and an onion loaf? So being a polite diner, I shrugged my shoulders and just started eating the cheeseburger and picking away at this tasty looking onion loaf. 3-4 minutes later, after I'd been picking away with my fingers at this tasty onion loaf, the waiter returns and tosses a small container of grilled onions on the table, says "sorry about that", picks up the tasty looking onion loaf and leaves. My wife and I looked at each other, then watched as the waiter delivered the pecked at onion loaf to another table a couple of rows over --at least I got first pickings! The Caesar salad looked alright; however, my wifes face stated otherwise after she took a bite of the chicken. Being the curious person that I am, I also tried it. Their chicken in apparently marinated, in a very thick, sweet substance. I personally like marinades; however, this was so heavy that it didn't even taste like chicken, it tasted more like candy marinated in chicken --this wasn't stated on the menu, nor did the waiter mention that the chicken had a sugary marinade to it. When it came to checkout time, we were billed for three meals instead of two, and they tacked on another $4 for the side salad which I 'substituted'. After questioning the bill, the waiter said "Oh, we charge for side salads, we just didn't give you the fries" --it would have been nice to know that upfront! The restaurant itself has a nice clean feel to it though it is pretty dark inside. For the most part the staff --which we dealt with at least, were pretty rude and didn't really give two craps whether you enjoyed the experience or not. This visit could very well be simply a bad waiter --did I mention my drink was only filled once --when it was first delivered --I only had water? However, it was enough to ensure we do not go back anymore.

Good food, mixed messages? - Not a long wait -Very very clean -Low lighting, romantic -Prices were varied & Good selection -Food was served quickly and it was very good -Staff was friendly and upbeat -Here is the confusing part: they asked if I was 18, then seated my wife and I in a booth near the bar, then the waitress came out and her dress was so opened on the top it embarrassed me, the dress was so short you could see her behind if she moved- I thought it was just our waitress till I saw that all the waitresses near the bar area were dressed the same-I wished they would tell you about the strip show included - now I know why you have to be 18 or older

We went over the 4th of July holiday weekend and it was busier--the wait was about 45 minutes which was to be expected. However, when we were paged, the hostess said that at that moment they accidently sat another person at the table we were to be sat at (we were a party of 7 & a high chair) and said it would be a lot longer bc of this or there was a table right behind the hostess stand that was for 6 people and they said we could squeeze in there, so we did. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, but the other servers that delivered our salad and soups were all but...scoffing when we said they had brought the wrong items for us. I did enjoy the She-Crab soup and the Salmon was pretty good (a bit overpriced in my opinion), but I loved their mashed potatoes. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. What left us with a bad taste was that my dad (who paid for the meal) accidentally left his credit card in the waitresses book that she took immediately after he signed it. We stayed for about 10-15 minutes after she had taken the book, but she never returned the card. It was kind of ironic that she was so eager to take the book, but she didn't notice the card? After speaking to the manager later that evening via a phone call, he denied that the waitress had the credit card. My dad asked him again to ask the waitress and she finally came forward with the card. This could have been a mistake, but it is the reason I don't have a better review for this restaurant.

Had a great meal here tonight while visiting friends. We arrived just before 6 PM and were given the Sunset Menu; smaller portions of an entree, one side and a salad. I had marinated chicken with marinara pasta with my salad. All portions were generous and very tasty. The honey croissant that comes with the salad was amazing! Prices were reasonable as well.

My family (husband, mom and dad) came here on Labor Day Weekend after a recommendation from a regular vacationer/owner at our resort. We waited about 25 mins for a table. Our waiter was efficient but not friendly. 3 of us ordered the house salad with house dressing, and they were all great!! Would come back there just for that. 2 folks ordered the she crab soup and that was almost equally amazing. Hubby had the ribeye (and the man knows his steaks) and it was cooked perfectly, he enjoyed it very much. I got the blackened chicken penne and it was good too. A light cream sauce with a good spice to it, and the chicken was fresh. More than I could eat. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, if was a comfortable, enjoyable dinner. It was nice to find a decent place, reasonable prices, a wide variety of dishes. In a place full of tourist-traps with terrible food that look nice on the outside, it was refreshing to find a place with quality control!!
